Packed lunch Policy
At Kiddywinks we are passionate about healthy food and children knowing the importance of a healthy life style. We provide all children with a healthy home cooked lunch and are able to meet any dietary requirements. We provide healthy portion sizes and encourage the children to ask for more if they need it. We ask parents’, children and staff for advice and ideas when designing the menu to create healthy balanced meals that are appealing to all children and their families. We feel passionate about making sure children understand about where our food comes from.
If parents wish for their child to have a packed lunch we ask for them to bring in a small number of healthy foods, ensuring all food provided is in line with our policies and beliefs, which the child can have at lunch time. We ask parents not to bring sweets, nuts or peanut butter into nursery.
Any items of this kind will be returned to you at the end of the day.
All food must be able to be served cold unless your child is under 1 years old.
No branded juice or fizzy drinks to be brought into the nursery.
Example things to go in a pack lunch- small child’s portion portions
Chunks of cheese
Slices of carrots, cucumber or tomatoes
Cous cous or pasta salad
The perfect packed lunch should be of a manageable size for the child. One piece of bread cut into 2 sandwiches, or 2-3 crackers, I piece of fruit, some carrot sticks and yoghurt. (4-5 items are more than enough.)
When making your choice of what to put in your child’s lunch please bear in mind the amount of time it may take your child to eat it and their stomachs are only as big as their clenched fists!
If any further advice is needed please see a member of staff.
We do provide hot lunches (at a small cost) daily at Kiddywinks please ask to see the menu if you would like to have theses.
